Tucked away on a backland plot in Kilburn, London, a single storey new residential dwelling is being proposed.

The client wished to create a home that strikes a balance between respecting the existing buildings on site while incorporating a contemporary design with nature remaining at the forefront of the design and landscaping.

The idea of discovery was proposed, using a sunken approach for the building nestled by trees and shrubbery on all sides. A path curves through the site sculpting an entrance way to the property. A contemporary approach was adopted which maximises glazing to provide bright and airy spaces while also using natural materials such as stone and a green roof to harmonise the dwelling with its natural surroundings.

The latest scheme was submitted for full planning in early2021 and is awaiting decision.
