Located in Hendon, North London, a new Synagogue, nursery and community building was sought under a brief for the site.

The proposals comprise of two clearly defined blocks separating the main areas of the building including the Shul from the ancillary spaces. Materiality played a significant role in creating a seamless transition between the two buildings, using different orientations of brick work to distinguish the two. A glazed, double-height core provides a central atrium and circulation space.

The proposals seek create a contemporary building which stood out as a local landmark amidst the predominately residential setting.

Following a successful pre-application consultation, planning permission was granted for the scheme by London Borough of Barnet in 2021.
